Job Description

SOS international LLC is seeking a Chief of Logistics and Transportation who will serve as the senior leader responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all logistics, supply chain, and transportation operations. This role ensures personnel, equipment, medical supplies, and mission-critical assets are positioned, deployed, sustained, and demobilized efficiently during public health emergencies, disasters, and national-level response operations. The Chief provides strategic oversight, operational leadership, and subject-matter expertise to ensure SOSi maintains a high state of readiness and can rapidly mobilize resources in support of federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners.

Duties:

  • Logistics & Supply Chain Leadership: Directs all logistics functions supporting related operations, including supply chain management, warehousing, procurement coordination, and distribution of medical and non-medical materiel. Oversees inventory management systems, asset tracking, and lifecycle management for deployable equipment and response packages. Ensures compliance with federal logistics policies, ASPR guidelines, and emergency management standards.
  • Transportation Operations: Leads planning and execution of ground, air, and maritime transportation for SOSi personnel, equipment, and supplies. Coordinates with federal partners (e.g., FEMA, DoW, HHS), commercial carriers, and state/local agencies to secure transportation assets during activations. Develops and maintains transportation readiness plans, routing strategies, and deployment timelines.
  • Emergency Response Readiness: Maintains operational readiness of SOSi and team logistics capabilities, including pre-positioned assets, response caches, and deployable teams. Oversees rapid mobilization processes for incident response, ensuring timely delivery of resources to affected areas. Supports incident command structures and may serve in logistics leadership roles during activations.
  • Program Management & Strategic Planning: Develops long-term logistics strategies aligned with ERSS mission objectives and national preparedness goals. Manages budgets, contracts, and resource allocations for logistics and transportation operations. Leads continuous improvement initiatives, including after-action reviews, capability assessments, and modernization efforts.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serves as the primary logistics liaison to federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners. Coordinates with SOSi logistics providers, transportation vendors, and supply chain partners. Represents ERSS and SOSi logistics interests in interagency planning meetings, exercises, and working groups.
  • Team Leadership & Workforce Development: Supervises SOSi and team logistics and transportation staff, including planners, coordinators, and field support personnel.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, business, or related field.
  • 7 years experience in logistics, supply chain management, emergency management, or transportation operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in large-scale or high-tempo operational environments.
  • Knowledge of federal emergency response frameworks (e.g., NIMS, ICS).
  • Experience coordinating with federal agencies, commercial logistics providers, and emergency response partners.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • May have to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Secret clearance (depending on customer).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years experience supporting HHS/ASPR, FEMA, DoW, or similar federal response programs.
  • Background in medical logistics or public health emergency operations.
  • Certification(s) such as CEM, CPL, PMP, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing deployable teams or field operations.

Work Environment:

  • Travel, including deployment to emergency sites, is required.
  • Position may require irregular hours during emergency activations
