Role Overview
The Chief of Staff (CoS) helps drive organizational rhythm, strengthens leadership team effectiveness, manages high-level relationships, and ensures the CEO is fully supported and prepared for all internal and external engagements.
This is a high-intensity, fast-paced role requiring exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, discretion, confidentiality and an ability to simplify complexity. The CoS will travel 50% or more with the CEO and operate as an extension of the CEO across all internal and external environments.

Key Responsibilities
1. CEO Office Operations, Briefings & Organizational Rhythm - 40%
  • Oversee daily operations of the Office of the CEO, ensuring systems for scheduling, prep, briefings, and follow-through run seamlessly under the day to day management of the Deputy Chief of Staff.
  • Manage preparation for all CEO meetings, public appearances, events, and major engagements.
  • Create and maintain operational systems that improve clarity, efficiency, and reporting across the executive team.
  • Drive internal communication flows, ensuring the CEO receives the right information at the right time, and ensures follow-up is executed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality execution across all CEO-facing materials and processes.

2. CEO Strategic Partnership & Executive Decision Support - 30%
  • Serve as the CEO's key strategic advisor, providing counsel on major decisions, internal and external dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Anticipate issues and surface thoughtful, solutions-oriented recommendations to support effective decision-making.
  • Ensure CEO focus and time allocation align with the organization's highest-impact strategic priorities.
  • Strengthen leadership team alignment by coordinating priorities, facilitating effective leadership meetings, and ensuring follow-through on decisions.
  • Support the CEO in managing direct reports and sensitive personnel matters, promoting cohesion, clarity, and accountability across the senior team.
  • Act as a cross-organizational integrator, ensuring collaboration and alignment between departments in service of strategic objectives.

3. Stakeholder, Board & External Relationship Management - 20%
  • Manage relationships with high-level internal and external stakeholders-including board members, government leaders, corporates, philanthropists, and multilateral partners-with care, diplomacy and sound judgment.
  • Prepare board materials, communications, and executive summaries, ensuring timely follow-up on commitments and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate with Communications, Partnerships, and Policy teams to ensure consistent messaging and high-quality preparation for the CEO's external engagements.
  • Represent the CEO or accompany them in high-stakes meetings, ensuring continuity, strategic alignment, and effective execution.

4. Travel, Events & Real-Time CEO Support - 10%
  • Travel with the CEO on as needed basis - which can be 50% of the time or more - providing strategic, operational, and hands-on preparatory support.
  • Manage real-time problem solving, rapid response needs, and situational judgment while on the road.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all travel and event logistics are aligned with strategic goals.
  • Act as the CEO's proxy during travel, ensuring effectiveness and productivity across all engagements.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience as an executive-level Chief of Staff within a global, high-complexity organization.
  • Demonstrated success working directly with C-suite executives and funders.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments (corporate, government, multilateral, philanthropic, talent/cultural).
  • Exceptional problem-solving capability-able to anticipate issues, propose solutions, and execute calmly under pressure.
