Job description

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an ambitious and visionary Vice President of Capture Excellence with a demonstrated track record of success in capturing new business at scale. As the VP of Capture Excellence, you will serve as the single corporate point of accountability for capture management across the enterprise - overseeing the corporate franchise pursuit pipeline and partnering with Sector Business Development Executives, Solution Architects, and Subject Matter Experts to develop opportunity win strategies and close differentiated solutions that deliver measurable customer value.
This role will shape and institutionalize best-in-class capture processes across Peraton, ensuring that capture excellence translates into improved win rates, scalable and repeatable processes, strong customer engagement, and differentiated technical solutions. You will lead and grow a high-performing corporate capture organization - including whale hunter individual contributors, capture managers, and an independent review team - that is deployed across the company's most critical and highest-priority pursuits.
You will be responsible for setting the standard for how capture is executed at Peraton, working in close partnership with sector-led growth teams to drive rigor, discipline, and consistency across the full business acquisition lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
  • Standardize and continuously improve the corporate capture framework, establishing best-in-class processes, playbooks, and methodologies for priority pursuits across the enterprise.
  • Oversee Peraton priority pursuit activities across all phases of the business acquisition process for opportunities exceeding $500M, ensuring strategic alignment, competitive positioning, and capture rigor.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing corporate capture team - including whale hunters, capture managers, and an independent review team responsible for color team reviews (blue, silver, pink, red, yellow) and recompete readiness assessments.
  • In partnership with key business leaders, ensure early opportunity shaping, competitive positioning, and price-to-win discipline are embedded across sector-led capture efforts.
  • Work with sector growth teams to drive capture rigor, ensuring the development and implementation of winning strategies aligned to mission needs across Peraton's core capabilities.
  • Support executive-level governance reviews, providing clear articulation of win strategies, solution approaches, business cases, and risk mitigation plans to senior Peraton leadership.
  • Collaborate with BD, proposal, pricing, and program leadership to ensure optimal resource allocation across the pursuit portfolio.
  • Drive measurable improvements in win rates and capture ROI, with a goal of achieving greater than 33% new business win rates and greater than 90% recompete win rates.
  • Implement and maintain real-time capture dashboards for all priority pursuits, providing leadership with visibility into pipeline health and capture effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across the corporate growth enterprise to standardize capture playbooks for priority pursuits.
  • Lead lessons-learned reviews and institutionalize best practices to continuously elevate capture performance across the organization.

Qualifications
  • 18+ years of experience, including a minimum of 8 years of documented, full life cycle capture management experience - candidates must be able to produce a deal sheet demonstrating capture wins.
  • Track record of growth as a capture leader with specific customer intimacy across Government Departments, Agencies, or the Intelligence Community, including demonstrated wins on large-scale, single-award pursuits exceeding $500M.
  • Excellent business acumen; strong understanding of Federal procurement, contracting, and financial rules and regulations.
  • Proven ability to build and scale high-performing capture teams, with strong executive presence and the ability to influence C-suite and senior government stakeholders.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills - ability to communicate with clarity, transparency, and credibility at all levels of the organization, quickly building trust and adapting style and message to diverse audiences, from technical teams to C-suite and senior government stakeholders.
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance required at time of hire; higher-level clearances (TS/SCI, TS/SCI with poly) are strongly preferred.
  • Must be local to Reston, VA

Desired:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI poly or equivalent
  • Demonstrated track record of growing a capture organization and transforming win rates within the Defense and/or Intelligence Community customer spaces - with measurable, double-digit top- or bottom-line business growth as a direct result of capture leadership.
  • Prior experience building, scaling, and leading a high-performing capture team in a large, complex defense services environment comparable in size and scope to Peraton's portfolio.
  • Demonstrated history of winning large-scale, single-award pursuits exceeding $500M within the Defense and Intelligence Community.
