Job description

Position Summary:
Sigmatech, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. In this role, you will support one of our Army customers in the development, integration, and sustainment of advanced tactical radio and military communications technologies. We are looking for a mission?focused engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings strong technical leadership to complex software challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and integrate advanced software solutions for Army tactical radios and communications systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in developing secure, robust, and scalable software architectures.
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, systems engineers, and SETA team members to define requirements, implementation roadmaps, and technical approaches.
  • Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvements in software performance and security.
  • Support system-level testing, fielding, and sustainment activities, providing timely technical resolutions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation in accordance with Army and DoD standards.
  • Travel may be required (approximately 5-10%).

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred). Four (4) additional years of direct technical experience may be substituted for bachelors.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 3 years supporting Department of Defense communications or mission?critical systems.
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, Python, or similar languages, with experience developing embedded systems or communications platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, networking protocols, and system integration principles.
  • Ability to translate complex operational requirements into practical, high?reliability software solutions.
  • Active DoW Secret clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Army tactical radios, waveforms, and related communications technologies.
  • Experience working with VENOM in laboratory and/or field environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and modern DevSecOps practices.
  • Previous support to Army programs or CPEs/PEOs.

In compliance with Maryland's Wage Range Transparency Law, the salary range for this role is $160,000 to $175,000; however, Sigmatech considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, experience, education/training, key skills, location and often contractual requirements.
