Overview:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is accepting resumes for Switchman/ Transloader /Locomotive Operator s at our Anacortes, Washington Crude Rail Offloading Facility (CROF) . This position works with and around petroleum products and i s responsible for the unit train offload duties of rail cars .

This position will work shift work on a 12-hour Dupont schedule (rotating shift pattern to provide 24/7 coverage) . Call-outs and overtime may be required , which would include after business hours and on weekends and holidays. This position will be provided with continuous training to develop job-related skills. A successful person in this position will be collaborative, reliable, motivated, and prioritize safety.

Responsibilities:

Preparing railcars for offloading

Inspections of railcars and adherence to required certifications, rules and regulations

Operate control switches, derails, and other track equipment to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of railcars within the terminal.

Secure railcars using appropriate methods to prevent unintended movement and ensure workplace safety.

Monitor and manage rail signals to coordinate railcar movements.

Maintain clear and continuous communication with crew members to ensure synchronized operations and adherence to safety protocols.

Operate locomotives based on business needs and qualifications, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of railcars.

Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of locomotives, monitor train performance, and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver's License

  • TWIC card (company funded)

  • Ability to learn basic computer skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and ability to document and maintain accurate records

  • Ability to learn mechanical and electrical systems

  • Physically able to climb ladders, stairs, and up and down railcars. Can carry at least fifty (50) points . Comfortable working at heights

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

Preferences:

  • Associate degree or vocational technical training

  • Prior experience in railcar operations, transloading, or switching preferred

  • Experience operating locomotives or working as a certified locomotive engineer is a strong plus
