The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring the following for a long-term position in the Freeport, TX area:

RAIL CAR LOADER

Rail Switching / Brake Setting Experience Required 
(D-Rail)

Successful candidates will have a year of continuous and current experience as a Bulk Loader in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.  Bulk Loaders transfer chemicals between plant tanks and various transport vehicles and containers, such as tank cars, tank trucks, inter-modal tank containers, drums, and tote bins.  
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely transfer bulk product to/from Railroad tank cars to/from tanker trucks.
  • Inspects the vehicle for cleanliness
  • Inspects the vehicle for safety and proper operating conditions
  • Connects and disconnects product hoses and loading arms
  • Connects and disconnects grounding/bonding cables
  • Conducts daily inspections of basic safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, safety showers, and eye wash stations
  • Performs some lining up of valves and pumps for product transfer
  • Monitors product transfer for safety, quality, and productivity
  • Takes samples from vehicles/containers in accordance with established procedures
  • Communicates with production and other plant personnel, and with drivers and other carrier personnel
  • Loader is responsible for proper placarding, marking, and labeling
  • Participates in Mundy Safety Awareness Program
  • Participates in safety audits as requested
  • Attends daily/weekly Toolbox Safety Meetings and monthly Site-wide Safety Meetings
  • Uses extensive written procedures in completing all product transfer work
  • Uses extensive written check sheets in connection with product transfer work

The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all time.   This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner.  The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is also required.  All qualified applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and other qualifications as required.
