Rail Worker
Location: Lafayette, IN
Shift: TBD
Job Summary
The Rail Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles, equipment, and other freight onto and off railcars. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all cargo is properly secured, handled safely, and meets quality standards before shipment or delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely load and unload vehicles and freight from railcars following established procedures.
  • Inspect railcars and equipment for safety and operational readiness before use.
  • Secure vehicles using proper tie-down methods and verify correct placement according to load plans.
  • Perform visual quality inspections on vehicles before and after transport.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate rail operations efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the rail yard and loading areas.
  • Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and workplace policies at all times.
  • Report any damages, malfunctions, or safety hazards immediately.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
