Job description

Overview:

Rail Loader

Preparing railcars for shipment. driving, loading, and securing vehicles for shipment 

Starting pay per hour: $31.75


Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Movement, loading, and securing vehicles to rail cars  
  • Maintenance of rail equipment including but not limited to bridge plates and wheel chocks  

Performing the following activities as needed:  

    • Build rail loads 
    • Completed required paperwork associated with rail loads 
    • Blowing out of rail cars 
    • Scan vehicles 
    • Maintain cleanliness of rail yard 
    • Complete daily company equipment checks  
  • Take appropriate precautionary measures to avoid damaging vehicles and/or accessories and report any damage immediately to the supervisor. 
  • Troubleshoot installation discrepancies and makes the necessary repairs to comply with installation procedures. 
  • Utilize mobile scanner to ensure proper items are installed. 
  • Use hand tools such as breaker bars and torque wrenches and power tools to remove standard accessories and replace with upgraded accessories for specified vehicles to standard operating procedure to avoid damage or defects. 
  • Move vehicles as needed and work safely around moving vehicles. 
  • Other Rail functions and duties as assigned by the Company.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to operate vehicles with automatic transmissions. (Manual transmission is recommended but not required). 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting are requirements for this position.
