Discover Impactful Work:
As a Principal Lab Support Engineer, your role will be to Coordinates and oversees technical support, repairs and maintenance for laboratory equipment within the department. Oversees and assists group leaders and scientists in laboratory operations such as scheduling, resource management, technical, personnel and compliance related issues. Plans, directs, and implements improvements in systems, processes and procedures to increase efficiency, productivity and quality in the laboratory.
What You'll Do:
  • Repair and maintain laboratory equipment. Focus on LC and GC instrumentation but will also oversee other support instrumentation.
  • Provide scientific and technical consulting. Interact with internal and external clients on project-specific issues.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects progress smoothly.
  • Attend team meetings to communicate progress of projects and issues to senior management. Works with other scientists in the department to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Initiate and implement plans to develop and improve areas in the laboratory for greater efficiency, productivity and quality.
  • Create and implement novel approaches to new applications and method development to prove productivity and expand business.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and posters for presentation at symposia.
  • Evaluate lab support records for compliance with SOPs, reviews for completeness and accuracy and reports findings.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (Life Sciences degree preferred) or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 12+ years).
    In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
