Position Overview:

We are seeking a well-rounded Accountant & Tax Preparer who can manage full-charge accounting responsibilities for our clients and prepare individual and business tax returns and who is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. This is a unique opportunity for someone motivated to grow their accounting career who wants to help make an accounting department more efficient and take on increasing responsibilities. This is a full-time, in-person role (M–F) based in our Van Nuys office, with occasional overtime hours required during peak tax season.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Bookkeeping:

  • Full-charge bookkeeping for write-up clients and small businesses
  • Reconcile bank/credit card accounts; maintain general ledgers in QuickBooks
  • Prepare financial statements and support quarterly and year-end closings
  • Manage payroll processing, sales tax filings, and 1099s
  • Review and improve workflows in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
  • Assist with inventory tracking, journal entries, and financial reporting

Tax Preparation & Planning:

  • Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, and trusts.

· Gather and organize financial documents from clients for tax preparation

· Ensure accurate data entry and compliance with current tax laws

Client Service & Communication:

  • Meet with clients to gather documents, answer questions, and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with team and leadership to ensure timely, accurate deliverables
  • Maintain organized records and follow up with clients on outstanding items
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff when appropriate

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a public accounting or EA firm
  • Full-charge accounting experience and payroll knowledge
  • Individual & Business Tax Preparation (complex returns required)
  • Proficient in:
    • QuickBooks Online (bank feeds, invoices, AP/AR, deposits)
    • QuickBooks Desktop (same as above)
    • Lacerte or similar tax software
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with multiple company books in fast-paced environments
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance
  • Comfortable meeting with clients and discussing tax matters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EA (Enrolled Agent), CPA, or CTEC certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification (a plus)
