What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in a queue management role, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in queue management roles often face challenges such as handling high volumes of customer requests, maintaining efficient service flow, and quickly resolving bottlenecks or technical issues. To address these challenges, it's important to utilize robust queue management systems, communicate clearly with both team members and customers, and remain adaptable during peak periods. Collaboration with IT and customer service teams ensures smooth operations, while ongoing training helps staff stay prepared for unexpected situations.

What are queue jobs?

Queue jobs typically refer to positions where an individual manages or operates queues, which are lines or sequences of people or items waiting for a service. These roles are common in customer service, IT (such as managing job queues in computing), or operations environments. The main responsibility is to ensure that the queue runs efficiently, customers or tasks are attended to in order, and any issues are resolved promptly. In IT, a queue job may involve managing tasks that are waiting to be processed by a system. Successful queue management helps improve workflow and customer satisfaction.

Job description

About Us

We're Queue, the world's first fully autonomous robotic pharmacy. We go from sealed wholesale bottles to filled, verified prescription vials with zero human involvement.

We built Queue because no one should ever have to wait in line for the medicines they need. One in three US pharmacies has shut down. Pharmacists are overworked to a breaking point. And patients are paying the price. Queue fixes that. Pharmacists get to practice pharmacy again โ€” counseling patients, catching interactions, doing the work only they can do. And patients get their prescriptions in 60 seconds or less, any time, anywhere.

Weโ€™re backed by over $18 million from Alleycorp, Riot Ventures, Ubiquity Ventures, House Capital, and others who believe the pharmacy system is broken and that robotics can fix it. Queue was founded by Nick Desai (6x founder, previously CEO of Heal) and Joshua Liu (previously Tesla, Waymo, and Zipline).

About the role

  • Build, manage, and grow the electrical and firmware engineering organizations

  • Gather and prioritize inputs from lead customers on product requirements and incorporate them into the engineering plans

  • Collaborate with the CTO and other engineering directors on the overall engineering development strategy

  • Establish robust design, review, and release processes as well as quality of work metrics to set the standard for engineering rigor

  • Guide the embedded system development by setting the milestones, processes, communication practices, and ways of working among multiple teams

  • Own responsibility for delivery of all electrical and firmware deliverables within the company and to interested stakeholders i.e. investors, customers, executives

Required Qualifications

  • Deep expertise spanning 12+ years in firmware and electrical engineering, including 5+ years spent scaling and leading high-performing teams

  • Proven history of navigating complex electromechanical systems from initial architecture through high-volume manufacturing

  • High technical density across the hardware stack with the clarity to resolve architectural ambiguity and define technical roadmaps

  • Mastery of balancing rapid iteration with rigorous engineering standardsโ€”reviews, test specs, and disciplined project execution

  • Obsession with talent density: a demonstrated ability to identify, hire, and mentor world-class engineering talent

  • Exceptional cross-functional fluency, having built tight feedback loops with mechanical, software, and product organizations

  • Comprehensive understanding of the electrical and embedded ecosystem: from power electronics and PCB design to real-time protocols and Linux integration

How We Hire

  1. Recruiter Screen: (30 min)

  2. Manager Interview (45 min)

  3. Technical Interview: (60 min)

  4. Leadership Interview: (60 min)

What We Offer

  • Early-stage equity in automated pharmacy dispensing at scale

  • Direct impact โ€” your code dispenses medication to real patients

  • Small team, zero bureaucracy, high trust

  • Work directly with a CTO

  • Hard problems: distributed systems, safety-critical software, regulatory compliance, real-time hardware integration

Compensations & Benefits

  • Competitive salary

  • Meaningful early-stage equity

  • Health, 401(k), unlimited PTO

Why Join Us Now?

  • Impact & Growth

    • Direct Patient Impact: Your code will improve healthcare outcomes for millions of patients

    • Market Leadership: Ground-floor opportunity to define an entirely new category of healthcare technology

    • Technical Innovation: Work on genuinely novel problems at the intersection of AI, robotics, and healthcare

    • Career Acceleration: High-visibility role with significant growth potential as the company scales

  • Team and Culture

    • World-Class Team: Work alongside exceptional engineers, AI researchers, and healthcare experts

    • Direct Access: Report directly to the CTO/Co-founder with significant autonomy and influence

    • Innovation Focus: Culture that prioritizes breakthrough thinking and rapid experimentation

    • Mission-Driven: Team united around the goal of transforming healthcare through technology

Our Values

  • Servant Leadership โ€“ Make those around you better

  • Do the Hard Things โ€“ Healthcare, hardware, and company - building are all hard. We do them anyway. Convenience for us is life-changing for those we serve

  • Own Your Work โ€“ Be accountable. Take pride in your output.

  • Default is Now โ€“ There's no better time than today. Default to action. What can we prove, learn, or simplify right now
