Senior Engineer, Quality Engineering
Job Description Summary:
ADI is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support Quality Engineering activities related to Wafer Manufacturing in Beaverton, OR. The Quality organization's goal is to achieve customer satisfaction by driving continuous improvement through a systematic approach to quality management, defect reduction and prevention. This position will require engagement across departments driving and leading cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Proactive involvement in the resolution of customer issues; act as the "Voice of the Customer" during discussions that could impact product quality.
  • Facilitate the use of structured problem-solving tools in root-cause investigation and corrective action identification.
  • Interface with internal and external customers regarding field returns or other customer-related concerns. Analyze customer returns, respond with 8D reports and continuous improvement summaries.
  • Write/update quality and operational specifications (working with other departments/sites as needed).
  • Evaluate non-conforming material and support risk assessment and disposition of the material.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supplier management teams to drive continuous improvement and corrective actions at suppliers as required.
  • Interpretation of SEM/TEM images and EDX data to solve electrical and defect problems.
  • Training and mentoring other quality or process/equipment engineers on core tools including SPC, FMEA and MSA.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure expedited closure of complex product and process quality issues from initiation to closure.
  • Perform audits of key suppliers, typically within the USA, however, may require international travel.
  • Active participation in audits from customers and certification authorities; a direct interface to convey the capability and responsiveness of ADI to customer requirements; ability to engage with customers on both technical and inter-personal levels.
  • Collaborate with product, process, design, failure analysis and reliability engineering organizations to drive quality improvements & implementation of quality management system (QMS).
  • Work with counterparts across the internal fabs to share results, best practices, and provide comparable data.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Process/Microelectronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor industry functional areas like Quality, Process, Product or Yield engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes including CMOS and Bipolar device technologies with experience in process and device related defect characterization and failure mechanisms.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Outstanding communication skills in difficult/diverse situations; level-headed and articulate to handle interactions with executive management, key customers and process auditors.
  • Excellent project planning, scheduling, documentation, training and coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail and root cause analysis that will help support our organization's zero-defect initiative.
  • Confident in personal technical expertise; self-driven/tenacious to acquire knowledge as situations dictate.
  • Ability to work in a Clean Room Environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of problem-solving tools like 8D, DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone analysis, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) in high volume semiconductor manufacturing environment and understanding of risk management using FMEA and Control Plan tools
  • Quality certifications like ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, CQE, etc.
  • Familiarity with industry quality standards like IATF16949/ISO9001

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $95,600 to $131,450.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
  • This position qualifies for a discretionary performance-based bonus which is based on personal and company factors.
