ABOUT METRO PLASTICS TECHNOLOGIES
Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.
PURPOSE: Our custom injection molding facility is seeking a Quality Engineer to take ownership of company standards for products by establishing quality control systems and setting product requirement rules. Their duties include identifying the specifications for an ideal product, determining an appropriate level of variation and monitoring quality assurance rates.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The role of the Quality Engineer encompasses the execution, ongoing enhancement, and documentation of tasks that monitor the effectiveness of controls on the production process and ensure prompt resolution of quality concerns that may have an impact on the consumer.
  • Assist with system audit in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Ability to interpret product specifications and drawings
  • Ability to interpret testing procedures and support reports based on findings
  • Maintain and update work instructions, forms, logs according to certification of ISO records.
  • Root Cause analysis and communication of findings through internal Material Review Board workflow
  • Support training and aid Quality Department staff in carrying out their job responsibilities to guarantee that products and processes adhere to the pertinent criteria of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Execute methodologies pertaining to quality process control, process enhancement, inspection, and testing. Advocate for and implement quality protocols, strategies, inspection schemes, testing frameworks, quality strategies, documentation, and reports.
  • Employ quality methodologies and tools to meet the quality standards of suppliers and to ensure ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, investigation, and troubleshooting of product or production issues.
  • Advise and direct Quality Technicians on the correct utilization of Smart Scope and other gauges for measuring purposes.
  • Promote customer contentment through collaborative efforts with internal departments to enhance product quality. Create solutions, corrective measures, and enhancements.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to assist in resolving quality concerns.
  • Support implementation of strategic plans and implements QA objectives set by the Quality Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
  • H.S. Diploma or associate degree: technical or vocational school training in related field of study a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is desired
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • Familiar with the PPAP process.
  • Strong understanding of GD amp;T.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding.
  • Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle and manage change effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience with CMM / Vision System / 3D laser scanning inspection equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours.
  • Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
