ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year round.
As a Quality Control Tech - Seasonal Intern, you are responsible to safely collect samples of crushed stone, aggregate, sand or gravel.
Typical hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM with Saturday, as needed - 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Hours may vary depending on weather and customer demand.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
  1. Safely and properly perform laboratory tests on variety of materials (Aggregate and/or Concrete)
  2. Collect materials samples, identify material, and compile statistical data on test results.
  3. Perform necessary tests (i.e. gradations, shales, %crushed, air, slump, unit weight, etc.)
  4. Examine and evaluate data - determine material quality in relation to specifications.
  5. Present alternative actions in relation to the evaluation.
  6. Perform arithmetic operations and report findings and needed actions.
  7. Maintain lab and equipment.
  8. Conduct finished and in-process inspections.
  9. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
  10. Ensure work activities comply with OSHA, EPA, Safety and Environmental regulations.
  11. Travel is required.
  12. Performs other duties assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
  1. General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
  3. Experience as an Aggregate Tester or Concrete Tester desired.
  4. Minimum equipment operation experience.
