Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, operationally sharp, and deeply collaborative Director of Business Operations to serve as the operational conduit between the Atlanta and Santa Monica offices.

The Director of Business Operations will act as the primary point of contact and be an on-the-ground leadership presence in Atlanta, ensuring that day-to-day operations run seamlessly, that the team is supported and aligned, and that a trusted operational partner can translate strategic priorities into implementation. This individual will help build the operational infrastructure that will define the label’s next phase of growth.

The ideal candidate is analytically driven, thrives in cross-functional environments, and brings a deep understanding of business operations — ideally within the music or entertainment industry. They lead with partnership rather than directive, and are energized by bringing order, clarity, and momentum to complex, fast-moving organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day business operations of the Atlanta label, serving as the senior operational presence on the ground and the primary point of escalation for the team.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve internal workflows, standard operating procedures, and operational systems across A&R, marketing, legal, finance, and administrative functions.
  • Act as the operational on-site contact for the President of Music in Atlanta, ensuring strategic directives are clearly communicated, prioritized, and executed across departments.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of organizational performance by building dashboards, tracking KPIs, and delivering regular reporting to QC Leadership team.
  • Manage and monitor the label’s operational budget in collaboration with VP of Finance, tracking spend against targets, identifying variances, and providing data-driven recommendations on resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with Central Finance on accounts payable and receivable, forecasting, reforecasting, and year-end reporting; ensure operational spend is in compliance with approved financial controls.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across all label functions — including A&R, marketing, publicity, distribution, legal, and finance — to drive cross-functional alignment and execution both within the QC eco-system and cross-functionally with functions in Nashville and Santa Monica teams.
  • Prepare briefings, status updates, and decision-support materials that distill complex operational data into clear, executive-ready insights for the President of Music.
  • Partner with A&R and marketing teams on release planning and project management, ensuring milestones, timelines, and cross-departmental deliverables are tracked and executed.
  • Liaise with distribution partners, DSPs, and publishing teams to support delivery requirements, clearances, and timelines for new releases.
  • Coordinate between leadership and legal and business affairs on contract execution, deal tracking, option windows, and term deadlines; flag risks and ensure timely action on key milestones.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts, including facilities, equipment, and administrative resources, ensuring cost-effectiveness and operational continuity.
  • Partner with Human Resources on staffing, onboarding, team structure, and employee experience to support a high-performing and engaged Atlanta-based team.
  • Analyze operational trends, surface risks and opportunities, and develop evidence-based recommendations to inform strategic decisions.
  • Represent operational priorities in senior leadership discussions and serve as a connector across the organization, removing roadblocks and enabling the team to focus on their highest-value work.
  • Oversee team of 2-3 employees, providing management and delegating tasks to support operational needs of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Music Business, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, strategy and operations, or a comparable function, with increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing cross-functional operations in a fast-paced, music industry workflows including A&R operations, release planning, distribution, licensing, and royalties.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget management, forecasting, and operational reporting.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable insights and executive-ready communications.
  • Experience operating across geographically distributed or bi-coastal team structures; highly collaborative working style with the ability to build trust and influence across functions without formal authority.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational transitions and change management initiatives effectively.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to executives and large teams.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and standard business software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and relevant project or workflow management platforms).

It’s a bonus, if you have

Beyond credentials, we are looking for someone who embodies the following:

  • A natural collaborator who believes that the best outcomes come from working with people, not around them.
  • A structured thinker who thrives in ambiguous environments and can build clarity where it doesn’t yet exist.
  • A proactive operator who anticipates problems, closes loops, and drives accountability without being asked.
  • Someone energized by the intersection of creative culture and business rigor — who understands that great music needs great operations behind it.
  • An individual with strong EQ, cultural sensitivity, and an instinct for when to lead, when to support, and when to step back.
