Job description

MRC Global serves the oil and gas industry across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors as well as the chemical and gas distribution market sectors worldwide.

Job Purpose

Work in close partnership with the Gas Products Quality Specialist and Sr. Quality Manager in the administration of the QC function within the various Gas products branch locations.

Responsibilities

Individualmust be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Control local branch gas product inspections according to predetermined contractual/customer requirements.

  • Facilitate inspectionprocessin conjunction with warehouse/branch operations.

  • Use inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, Positive Material Identification (PMI) equipment, plug gauges, thread gauges, ultrasonic thickness equipment, hardness testers, tape measures,rulersand others asappropriate.

  • Operate standard warehouse equipment: Forklifts, Order Pickers,Cranesand other equipment as needed.

  • Complete documentation of all inspections including monthly reporting of inspections in an excel format.

  • Handle all non-conformances by filing NCRs(non-conforming reports) within MRCGlobal'sQuality systems.

  • Monitor all NCRs filed for completion and closing.

  • Work with the QC Administrators and MRC Global Branches to keep inventory correct in lieu of returns and transfers of defective material.

  • Monitor the shipping of samples to labs or vendors and the follow-up necessary to gettimelyresults; ensure communication of results to buyers, sales groups,customersand suppliers as needed.

  • Represent the Quality department on specific projects or assignments within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job asrequested.

  • Take responsibility over all local tooling care and calibrationrequirements.

  • Perform other duties andprojects asassigned.

  • Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others.

  • Report workplace hazards, injuries, or illnessesimmediately.

Education, Experience, & Ability Requirements

Any combination of requirements which provide knowledge & abilities necessary to perform Essential Duties & Responsibilities will be considered

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

  • Must have acurrent, valid driver's license and acceptable record at all times.

  • Working knowledge of warehouse distribution operations including shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory controls,etc..

  • Working knowledge of, or ability to learn the industry standards, quality codes, and customer specifications involved in MRCGlobal'squality process.

  • Strong reasoning and reading skills to be able to review and interpret quality codes and to analyze potentially nonconforming material.

  • Self-starter and good communicator with the ability to work as both an effective quality inspector and as a member of a team.

  • Ability tooperateforklifts, order pickers, cranes, and other typical warehouse material handling equipment.

  • Valid Driver's license with the ability to meet the MRC Global vehicle policy.

  • Ability to travel as needed to MRC Global branches and customer locations.

  • Ability to manage direct reportsin order toaccommodate changing requirements and to fulfill all departmental responsibilities.

  • Ability to effectively analyze quality dataand topresent results,determinetrends,etc..

  • Ability to recognize the need for process change, and a willingness to implement changes when beneficial to the department and to MRC Global.

  • Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.

  • Ability to read and speak the English language proficientlyin order tocommunicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and respond to inquiries.
