Our client is a growing notarial practice in Montreal with a structured and collaborative work environment. The firm handles a range of notarial matters, including real estate transactions, and is looking for a reliable accounting professional to support its day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate, compliant financial records.

 Role Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the firm’s day-to-day accounting activities, with a particular focus on trust accounting and the financial administration of real estate transactions. This role will work closely with the notarial and operations teams and is well suited to someone who is organized, precise, and comfortable working independently in a regulated environment.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Reconcile bank statements, client accounts, and trust accounts in accordance with applicable notarial regulations

  • Process invoices, payments, deposits, and other day-to-day accounting transactions

  • Prepare and submit GST/QST returns and other required government remittances

  • Support the financial administration and reconciliation of real estate transactions

  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes and work with external accountants and management as required

  • Maintain organized financial documentation and ensure accounting records remain accurate and compliant

 Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience

  • Strong knowledge of Quebec accounting practices, GST/QST, and general bookkeeping principles

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with notaries, accountants, management, and other team members

  • Fully bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken

 Principales responsabilités
  • Tenir à jour des dossiers financiers précis, notamment les comptes fournisseurs et les comptes clients

  • Effectuer les conciliations bancaires, des comptes clients et des comptes en fidéicommis conformément aux règlements notariaux applicables

  • Traiter les factures, paiements, dépôts et autres opérations comptables quotidiennes

  • Préparer et soumettre les déclarations de TPS/TVQ ainsi que les autres remises gouvernementales requises

  • Assurer le suivi administratif et les conciliations financières liées aux transactions immobilières

  • Participer aux processus de clôture mensuelle et annuelle et collaborer avec les comptables externes et la direction au besoin

  • Maintenir une documentation financière organisée et veiller à l'exactitude et à la conformité des dossiers comptables

Requises :

  • Minimum de 1 an d'expérience en comptabilité ou en tenue de livres

  • Bonne connaissance des pratiques comptables québécoises, de la TPS/TVQ et des principes généraux de tenue de livres

  • Souci du détail exceptionnel et grande précision

  • Excellentes aptitudes en organisation et en gestion des priorités, avec la capacité de gérer plusieurs dossiers simultanément

  • Capacité à travailler de façon autonome tout en collaborant efficacement avec les notaires, les comptables, la direction et les autres membres de l'équipe

  • Bilinguisme complet en français et en anglais, à l'oral comme à l'écrit

  • Permis de conduire valide et accès à un véhicule pour effectuer des dépôts et des déplacements occasionnels auprès d'institutions financières à proximité
