Job description

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school Diploma or GED

Career Readiness Certification (CRC)

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

None required

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

This position operates laboratory equipment, acts as a liaison between manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering; works on continual improvement projects, CTRs, NSTRs, Process Audits and assist with product development; assist with inventory, trains operators and fills in for other operators when needed. May function as lead when supervisor is absent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Seeks to continually improve test processes (Root Cause Analysis, Correction and Preventions)
  • Implement critical knowledge transfer and communication processes with operators.
  • Responsible for management and coordination of all testing activities including Routine Testing, NSTRs, Raw Material, etc.
  • Coaches and supports team whenever needed.
  • Responsible for creating CTRs, conducting Process Audits and Internal Audits
  • Provides continuous review and recommendations for improvement of processes related to QA
  • Understand various Calibration functions.
  • Work with UL inspector monthly to ensure that we are in compliance.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions when new tooling or equipment is needed.
  • Assist in new Hire Orientation (Measuring Devices Section).
  • Conduct production qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must have qualifications in both 2801 and 2901 QA labs
  • Must be self-directed and possess strong analytical skills and communication skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of SAP.
  • 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience in the manufacturing of control and instrumentation cable or power cable laboratory setting.

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • OJT - Manufacturing Software programs โ€“ SAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word)
  • Must be knowledgeable of Laboratory Equipment

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform routine testing in both labs when needed; understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, and work well with others. Working nights may be required. Must be flexible to rotate shifts on short notice.

This position requires significant standing and walking while completing job tasks during the normal workday. Kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, and pulling are occasionally necessary. Occasional collection of water samples when weather permits. May have to inspect reels in Inclement Weather.
