Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in legal or paralegal studies, or certification from an accredited paralegal program
• Work experience in a law firm handling primarily family law cases
• Strong organizational, writing, proofreading, and time-management skills
• Strong client services skills and superior judgment to ensure client confidentiality
• Knowledge of court processes and procedures, in person filings, eFiling systems and various court websites, docket searching and document retrieval
• Advanced proficiency in Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe PDF
• Clear and effective verbal communication
• Proactive personality with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to identify issues and offer solutions
Responsibilities
• Case management; client contact; docketing and calendaring; communicate effectively with clients; efficiently manage documents and data utilizing law practice management software and systems
• Assist with preparation of pleadings, interrogatories and request for production of documents; prepare responses to discovery requests including obtaining, reviewing, organizing and producing documents; review, organize, summarize and track documents received from all parties; prepare subpoenas and assist with deposition preparation and witness interviews
• Assist with preparation of motions and trial documents; thorough review of records for use in motions, briefs and as exhibits; contact and subpoena witnesses for hearings, depositions or trial; organize documents, pleadings and trial notebooks
• Assist with post-judgment issues (i.e. assist in preparation of pleadings for enforcement of judgment; modification of custody or parenting time or child support; follow-up on QDRO’s; preparation of deeds for transfer of property; etc.)
