Job Description:
Job Summary
The Associate Director, will direct and manage the integrated sport program team, including Intramural sports, club sports, and esports, working collaboratively with, and reporting to, the Senior Associate Director, Programs The position will supervise designated Sport Program full-time staff and provide oversight of the student staff for all three areas. The Associate Director, Sport Programs will develop strategic plans to ensure sport program offerings, processes and systems meet the needs of the Purdue community and will work collaboratively with RecWell staff to optimally schedule facilities, create effective outreach and digital communication, build and execute operating procedures and emergency action plans to ensure safety, and gather data to help build efficiency and effectiveness. The position is responsible for creating multiple budgets, developing processes to track expenditures and revenue streams, and cultivating projections to establish year-end forecasts. The position is responsible for developing/executing daily protocols to ensure proper use and maintenance of facilities and equipment, and coordinating acute and preventative maintenance, and repair or replacement of assigned equipment. The position will stay abreast of regional and national trends in all applicable areas and serves on department leadership team to assist with departmental goals and priorities. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management, or related area
  • 5 years of relevant experience in areas such sport rules design/implementation, programming, officiating experience, and/or training and developing officials and student staff.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Ability to offer leadership, vision, and strategic planning that will contribute to a comprehensive integrated sport program.
  • Ability to create and manage a student development program that meets the needs of the ever-changing student body.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, manage, and develop professional staff to carry out their duties and lead a high volume of part-time students.
  • Ability to work with staff to develop their leadership and program management skills is required.
  • Must show ability to establish long- and short-term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division, and congruent with the needs of the program.
  • Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus and regionally with a variety of constituents.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, service minded and adept at solving problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
  • Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient at computer software, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communication, etc.
