The primary role of the Operations Assistant (OA) position is assisting in the daily operations of the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a supportive and fair environment. The Operations Assistant position should work 6-12 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. Operations Assistants must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.
Prerequisite(s)
  • Valid or ability to obtain American Red Cross (or equivalent) CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, and Blood borne Pathogens certification or ability to obtain upon hire within first 30 working days

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global, local accredited college, or local high school
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Be timely and organized

Position Responsibilities
  • Ensure all facility policies and procedures are enforced
  • Maintain high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility
  • Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
  • Provide laundry service for all CoRec needs, including the Equipment Center, GroupX/F45, and Aquatics
  • Assist the Operation Manager with facility set up and tear down
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and cardio, track, and weight areas through scheduled cleaning
  • Report equipment needs and maintenance repairs
  • Maintain organization of weight room, track, and cardio area equipment
  • Have basic knowledge and understanding of all Emergency Action Plan scenarios, including hazardous weather, fires, and cardiac arrest
  • Provide first aid care for any injuries as well as biohazard clean-up
  • Assist the Operations Manager and Specialist in risk management and event management
  • Attend all monthly staff trainings
