Job description

Purchasing Assistant LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a company near Tempe who is looking for a purchasing assistant to add to their team! This role is Monday-Friday, and may provide some hybrid flexibility after training. The hourly rate is up to $27/hr.
This role focuses on sourcing materials, processing purchase orders, and maintaining strong vendor relationships, while also assisting with basic general ledger (GL) coding. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, process, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Source vendors, request quotes, and compare pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate reorders as needed
  • Follow up on order status, backorders, and delivery timelines
  • Resolve discrepancies related to shipments, pricing, and invoicing
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, files, and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams (warehouse, operations, accounting) to meet purchasing needs
  • Support Accounts Payable with invoice matching and issue resolution
  • Apply basic GL coding to purchases and ensure proper expense allocation
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain support
  • Strong understanding of purchasing processes, vendor management, and order tracking
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles or GL coding preferred
  • Experience with ERP or purchasing systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
