Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Location:North Platte, Nebraska

Position Type:Full-Time

Job Summary:

Sustainable Beef is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Manager to oversee all procurement activities for the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective purchase of materials and services needed to support both production and maintenance operations.

The Purchasing Manager manages inventory control, vendor coordination, purchasing processes, and issue resolution while ensuring compliance with company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements. This position also provides leadership to the purchasing team, partners with internal departments, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure department goals are met.
  • Oversee daily purchasing operations, including purchase order creation, tracking, and vendor coordination to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Manage perpetual inventory in the ERP and administer routine physical counts.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and take a lead role in price negotiations and contract management to optimize cost and supply reliability.
  • Resolve purchase discrepancies, including delivery issues, returns, and invoicing errors, by working with vendors, Accounts Payable, and Receiving.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements in all purchasing activities.
  • Supervise and support purchasing team members, providing guidance and ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Coordinate with production and maintenance to align purchasing activities with operational needs.
  • Manage and supervise the warehouse team to achieve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify and support cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Develop standardized purchasing procedures and contribute to process improvements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Management experience of diverse purchasing & warehouse functions
  • Experience working with ERP Systems
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment efficiently & accurately
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift 25lbs repeatedly
