As we continue to expand our used vehicle operations, we're looking for a talented and driven Used Inventory Buyer to join our team.
Position Summary
The Used Inventory Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring high-quality used vehicles that align with our inventory needs and market demand. This role plays a critical part in our dealership's success by ensuring we maintain a strong, profitable, and diverse used vehicle lineup.
What you'll do:
  • Identify, evaluate, and purchase used vehicles through auctions, trade-ins, private sellers, and digital platforms.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing data, and sales performance to make informed and profitable buying decisions.
  • Inspect vehicles for overall condition, mechanical integrity, and reconditioning needs.
  • Negotiate pricing with sellers, wholesalers, and auction representatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with auction houses, wholesalers, and other vehicle sources.
  • Work closely with the Used Car Manager and sales leadership to understand inventory needs and aging unit strategies.
  • Manage purchase documentation, transportation, and intake logistics.
  • Ensure all purchased vehicles meet Basil Family Dealerships' quality and reconditioning standards.
  • Track vehicle performance and adjust buying strategies based on results.

Requirements
What we're looking for:
  • Previous automotive buying, appraisal, or used car management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of used vehicle market trends, book values, and appraisal tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to inspect vehicles and accurately identify needed repairs or reconditioning.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
