Job Summary:

Assist in the routine aspects of press operation including jogging signatures and removal and replacement of skids and continually review of signature quality.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communication with oncoming workers at shift change.
  • Takes stacks off the end of a press and stacks product on skids.
  • Removes skids by using a Big Joe and Hand Truck.
  • Lifts stacks of end boards as needed.
  • Lifts rolls of banding strap as needed.
  • Moves logs as needed.
  • Adjusts stacker using a touch screen.
  • Train other personnel as instructed.
  • Keep entire press area safe and clean.
  • Follow guidelines for quality inspection of product on press.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with other members of the staff.
  • Basic skills in reading and writing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to take stacks (averaging 10-20 lbs.) using repetitive hand/wrist movement, off the end of a press (2-4 feet high) and stack product on skids from floor level to 5 feet high using repetitive bending and twisting.
  • Ability to remove skids (weighing up to 2,400 lbs.) by using a Big Joe and Hand Truck.
  • Ability to lift stacks of end boards (30 lb.) as needed.
  • Ability to lift rolls of banding strap (60 lb.) as needed.
  • Ability to move logs as needed without lifting them (stand them up or lie them down).
  • Ability to adjust stacker using a touch screen.
  • Ability to stand up to 12 hours on a cement floor.
  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts plus overtime as needed.
