Food Service Director Qualifications & Responsibilities: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent 

  • serv safe certified

  • experienced as Food Service Director in a skilled nursing facility for 3 years

  • Long term care dietary management experience preferred 

  • Inspects the Dietary Department daily to ensure that it is safe and sanitary 

  • Submits written reports to the administration as necessary 

  • Plans nutritionally balanced & therapeutic meals that reflect the likes and dislikes of residents, as well as Public Health regulations 

  • Responsible for food purchase, production, and timely service of meals 

  • Directs and supervises all dietary functions and personnel 

  • Hires, orients, trains, counsels, disciplines, and when appropriate, terminates dietary staff 

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure proper food preparation and service. 

  • Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with dietary requirements, nutrition standards, and facility guidelines. 

  • Monitor food safety practices to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. 

  • Maintain inventory levels and order food and supplies as necessary. 

  • Assist with menu planning and implement resident-specific dietary needs.  

  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment and work areas. 

  • Maintain accurate records, including food temperature logs and sanitation reports. 

  • Ability to work independently or part of a group 

  • Computer knowledge
