Job description

Position Overview

The Partnerships and Media Specialist will coordinate and collaborate with TBC team members to build and maintain a positive image for the organization. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with partners, media companies (as well as their producers and reporters), donors, the community, public interest groups, employees, TBC executives, and all other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations and Marketing, this position will work to create communication strategies, implement plans to maintain consistent messaging through media, sponsorships/partnerships, advocacy efforts, and public relations.

The Partnerships and Media Specialist must be able to collaborate with other TBC team members across a broad spectrum of job duties and positions to promote cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Creates and implements the promotion of the organization’s public image, builds public relations strategies, develops brand trust, and influences public opinion
  • Creates and distributes press releases, fact sheets and articles, as well as responds to inbound requests for organizational information and interviews
  • Develops executive talking points and media kits
  • Arranges and plans speaking engagements, press conferences, donor events, and sponsor/partner events
  • Acts as a designated spokesperson for the organization while maintaining the schedule/calendar of appearances and speaking opportunities for the CEO and other executives
  • Writes speeches, talking points, and other external and internal communication for TBC and/or any member of the TBC Executive Team as needed
  • Distributes executive/organizational messages internally and externally
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with partners/sponsors, media organizations, donors/recipients, the community, employees, TBC executives, public interest groups, etc. 
    • This includes negotiating paid partnerships, sponsorships, or contracts and then reviewing with the Director of Public Relations and Marketing
    • Maintains and curates a detailed distribution list
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Public Relations team to ensure consistent messaging across all distribution channels
  • Assists in creating strategy to increase employee awareness and promote productivity
  • Develops relationships/garners support from legislative bodies (local, state, national)
  • Provides onsite PR assistance for large, event-style blood drives and events
  • Coordinate and plan events as assigned
  • Actively seek new partners and community involvement
  • Monitor performance and ROI
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism
  • At least 5 years of experience in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or other related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to media, partners, donors, and co-workers
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and creative skills
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
