The Fitness team of the Provo City Recreation division is looking for high-performing, energetic individuals to fill the role of Fitness Instructor in various formats. Individuals interested in supporting the services provided to Provo City citizens by performing the duties described herein are invited to apply.

What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour and up, depending upon qualifications.
Part-time Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following great benefits: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors.
What will I do?
  • Conduct unique and quality workout classes in assigned fitness format(s) that motivate and keep patrons safe.
  • Assist recreation staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.

What do I need to apply?
  • Sufficient knowledge of the format in which you are applying to teach (i.e. aerobics, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, language, martial arts, dance, art, music, etc.).
  • Current related fitness and CPR certifications.
  • Physical ability required to perform the duties of the job.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with previous fitness instructing experience.

What are the hours?
Hours and schedule are flexible based on department need and are subject to change. All positions are part time.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
This position requires bending, stooping, stretching, and occasionally lifting objects that weigh up to 50lbs. May involve interactions with members of the public in tense situations.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
