From applied research to advanced engineering, the Engineering Technologist team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking products, material, and processes. It’s a fascinating field of work. We’re involved in assessing the competition, developing technology and product strategies, and generating intellectual property. We lead technology investigations, analyze industry capabilities, and recommend potential acquisitions or vendor partner opportunities. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. And we work with colleagues across the business to ensure our products always lead the way.

Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as aSenior Engineer – Mechanical Engineering Software Tools (Technical Staff) on ourClient Solutions Group (CSG) Engineering Technologistteam in Austin, Texas.

What you’ll achieve:

As aSenior Engineer - Mechanical Engineering Software Tools (Technical Staff) Engineering Technologist, you’ll provide expert guidance on technology investigations, prototyping strategies, and data generation that drive product decisions. You’ll synthesize insights from experiments and literature to advise leaders and shape roadmaps. You will mentor technologists and contribute to playbooks and tool improvements.

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to lead, support, and influence the strategy and execution of Mechanical Engineering software tools across the CSG organization. This role is designed for a versatile engineering tools expert who thrives at the intersection of hands‑on engineering support, strategic tool governance, and cross‑organizational influence. You will be the go‑to authority on PTC Creo and Windchill, shaping how our engineering teams leverage these platforms today and into the future.

If you are a high‑level problem solver who can navigate evolving requirements, influence senior leadership, and mentor engineers at all levels, we want to talk to you.

You will:
  • Lead CSG Mechanical Engineering tooling strategy by shaping organizational direction, influencing senior executives on investment priorities, predicting tool needs and budget requirements, and partnering with the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) organization to ensure CSG needs are prioritized in enterprise‑wide and modern tools efforts

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) Creo Parametric and PTC Windchill, driving CAD governance and standardization across the CSG organization while evaluating new PTC software versions and interfacing directly with PTC to assess capabilities and recommend adoption strategies

  • Provide hands‑on engineering support as the first responder for Creo, Windchill, ANSYS, and related tool issues, debugging problems alongside engineering staff and mentoring junior engineers on proper tool usage and engineering best practices

  • Plan and drive PTC education and training requirements across the engineering organization, creating and socializing best practices, work instructions, and standardized workflows to elevate the technical proficiency of the broader team

  • Partner across Organizations on Windchill & Creo connectivity to the digital thread, supporting digital twin and model‑based engineering initiatives while collaborating with engineers, engineering managers, IT, and ODM partners to ensure seamless tool integration across internal, ODM, and hybrid development models

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawing practices, product lifecycles, and familiarity with digital thread/digital twin concepts and internal, ODM, and hybrid development models

  • Proven ability to debug Creo, Windchill, ANSYS, and related tool issues, with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies

  • Demonstrated leadership and influence — able to drive CAD governance across organizational boundaries, forecast tool needs and budget requirements, and align senior executives on strategic tooling investments

  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills with the ability to create and deliver training programs, best practices documentation, and work instructions while interfacing effectively with engineers, managers, IT, ISG, ODMs, PTC vendors, and senior executives

Desirable Requirements
  • Typically requires 15+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor's degree; or 12+ years and a Master's degree; or 8+ years and a PhD; or equivalent experience

  • Experience collaborating with software vendors (e.g., PTC) on version evaluations, beta testing, and product feedback, along with proficiency in ANSYS or other CAE/simulation tools, model‑based definition (MBD) and model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) practices, and product development within consumer electronics, PC, or hardware engineering environments
