What We Are Looking For

The Clinical Psychologist works under the direction of the Director, Behavioral Health and reports to the Department Managers. The Clinical Psychologist will participate as a Health and Wellness Consultant as part of the Behavioral Health Integration program providing brief psychosocial assessment and intervention in the medical clinics as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Clinical Psychologist may also co-facilitate health education groups and provide traditional psychotherapy as needed.

Schedule:4 days per week, 10 hours per day, Monday - Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm | Location: Norton Clinic, San Bernardino, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Deliver evidence-based psychosocial assessments and interventions in the provision of traditional psychotherapy.
  • Participate as a Health and Wellness Consultant (HWC) providing clinical services as part of the Behavioral Health Integrated Care team for patients in the medical clinics who present with chronic health challenges, mental health symptoms, or who may be at risk for mental health-related issues. Uses motivational enhancement strategies to improve patient engagement in healthcare treatment plans.
  • Provides culturally sensitive psychoeducation to ensure fair and equal care to all clients in the development of appropriate service plans and referral and linkages to internal and external resources based on individual/family needs.
  • May facilitate as a group leader for one of the health education groups provided within the Health, Behavior, and Wellness Center (HBWC).
  • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings including the monthly HWC meeting, monthly HBWC clinical staff meetings, monthly Provider meetings and SACHS General Staff Meetings, in-services, staff development and participates in educational courses, workshops, and conferences.
  • Attend all grant-funded webinars, trainings, and off-site meetings.
  • Provides behavioral health-related crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Demonstrates professional development on the job as evidenced by staying current with the field through journals, articles, and pertinent clinical and professional
    literature.
  • Complies with all policies, procedures, and represents the values of the agency.
  • Ability to collaborate, support, and function in a teaching organization that builds, coaches, and embraces interns and medical residency programs. Must demonstrate a passion for the team and have the ability to work consistently with rotating doctors, residents, and interns, while continuously building a trusting, safe, patient-centered workplace.
  • Flexibility to engage in a diversity of clinical interventions within a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work with a patient population with complex medical, mental health, and social needs and challenges.
  • Adheres to the NASW Code of Ethics / the American Psychological Association Code of Ethics.
  • May provide clinical supervision for licensure-track clinical staff.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Travel to other satellite clinics to provide patient care; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program, and completion of an APA accredited internship are required.
  • Licensure/Certification: A psychologist license issued by the California Board of Psychology is required. Current CPR/BLS certification (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into. Valid California driver's license, and auto insurance.
  • Experience: 2+ years of clinical experience are required, outpatient clinical experience is preferred. Multidisciplinary experience within the medical field is preferred. Experience providing psychotherapy in Spanish is preferred. Trauma informed clinical orientation and experience are preferred.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: The ability to use a computer on a daily basis in order to complete required documentation. Use of word processor, spreadsheets and the internet. Ability to skillfully use Electronic Health Records, training will be provided.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate positively and effectively with all staff in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to conduct meetings and present in a public forum.
  • Essential Mental Abilities: Able to speak and hear on the telephone and in person and visually identify patients and staff. Ability to distinguish colors; distinguish various sounds; and see adequately to read computer screen and written documents necessary to the position.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
