Job description

Keller Technology Corporation (KTC) is a global supplier of manufacturing and engineering services, with facilities located in Buffalo, New York, and Charlotte, North Carolina. We specialize in four areas including custom machinery, precision fabrication, automated systems for medical device manufacturing, and contract manufacturing. Keller delivers sophisticated manufacturing solutions for many industries including Engineered Materials, Semiconductors, Robotics, Chemicals, Medical and Life Science, Energy Research, and Industrial Technologies.

We are currently seeking to fill the following position for our Charlotte location.

Proposals Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated, well organized, team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. High degree of ownership, and desire to make those around you better.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a summary of the Primary Job Responsibilities. It is not to be considered as an all-encompassing list of job duties.

  • Receive, review, and organize BOMs and drawings provided by customers into assembly structure.
  • Identify gaps in customer provided documentation and work with customers directly to resolve.
  • Review customer specifications and requirements to determine scope of proposal requests.
  • Evaluate parts and drawings and select appropriate suppliers for quotation.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers, estimate labor hours, and organize data into proposals cost sheets.
  • Leverage data from past orders to complete new proposals.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and KTC personnel when developing proposals.
  • Assist the Proposals Manager in developing pricing, lead times, terms, and drafting the written proposal.
  • Guide the efforts of Project Managers, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers who may be assisting in the development of a proposal.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of proposals' progress.
  • Participate in Proposal Review Meetings with Management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read and understand part fabrication drawings and other technical specifications provided by customers.
  • Must be knowledgeable of various machining, fabrication, coating, and finishing processes.
  • Must be proficient in using 3D and 2D CAD software. SolidWorks and AutoCAD are highly preferred.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
  • Must be able to estimate engineering design hours, assembly labor hours, and part costs.
  • Must have excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to develop working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work on multiple proposals concurrently and to manage frequently changing priorities.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience developing concepts/documentation/drawings. Experience in a field related to design and development of custom machinery, automation equipment, or other electromechanical equipment is highly preferred.

EDUCATION

  • 2-year degree in Engineering, similar relevant field, preferred, or minimum of 4 years comparable job experience in electrical-mechanical design/manufacturing in lieu of degree.
