Job description

Job Title: Proposal Engineer I
Role Definition:
Provide bid support to the sales team in the development of proposals, including tower selections, specification & contract review, material & labor estimates, and proposal preparation. Work with departments to complete specification responses, project strategies, accurate cost estimates, and competitive pricing.
Proposal Engineer Responsibilities:
Proposal Preparation
Manage, coordinate, & support all assigned budget & firm proposals requiring an EvapTech response.
  • Develop & implement proposal strategies with management & Business Development Managers.
  • Coordinate with both internal & external contacts to estimate labor, material & freight costs.
  • Set bid prices using established pricing guidelines & management review.
  • Consult with team members in review of customer technical & commercial specifications.

BDM Support
  • Develop scopes to highlight EvapTech's strengths and meet customer expectations.
  • Attend customer meetings and/or pre-bid job walks as required to gather information required for bids.

Database Upkeep
  • Maintain accuracy of Quote Database and assist in Sales Forecasting / Budgeting.
  • Create accurate entries in the Tower Reference Library.

Post-Award Support
  • Perform a smooth transition from proposal management to project management phases of a contract.
  • Assist with Project Management as necessary to resolve conflicts of scope expectation.
  • Prepare inspection reports with Construction & management support to determine recommended repairs.
  • Act as a Project Manager on inspection projects with no material scope of supply.

Technical Design & Support
  • Prepare thermal selections & performance predications of standard counterflow & crossflow cooling towers using the StarDM software & fan vendor software.

Minimum Qualifications:
(Education, Experience, Skills required to qualify for this position)
1. Background in technical / engineering product applications
2. Strong verbal and written communications skills
3. Computer skills including Microsoft Office
4. Demonstrated organizational skills
5. Bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Science or strong math & science coursework)
Optional but Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an ABET/EAC program or recognized equivalent
2. Three years of experience in Proposal Management, Project Management, or Application Sales
3. Direct application sales experience in Capital / Engineered Products
4. Experience in contract and commercial terms
5. Direct experience in the cooling tower industry
