What is a property and casualty insurance agent?

Property and Casualty Insurance Agents are professionals who help individuals and businesses find insurance policies that protect against financial losses from events like accidents, natural disasters, theft, or liability claims. They assess clients' needs, explain coverage options, and assist with purchasing policies for homes, cars, businesses, and other property. These agents also help clients file claims and may provide ongoing support to ensure coverage meets changing needs.

What does a property and casualty insurance agent do?

A property and casualty insurance agent is a person who is responsible for selling insurance products like homeowners, automobile, boat, and motorcycle insurance. These agents can sell on behalf of a specific insurance company or act as a broker that represents several different insurance companies. They work directly with customers to find the right combination of insurance protection to meet the customer’s needs. A property and casualty insurance agent is typically paid on a commission basis, which is based on new customer sales and existing policy renewals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a property and casualty insurance agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Property and Casualty Insurance Agent, you need a strong understanding of insurance products, risk assessment, and state licensing requirements. Familiarity with agency management software, quoting systems, and relevant certification such as a state insurance license is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and persuasive communication help agents build client trust and close sales. These skills are crucial for effectively matching clients with appropriate coverage, ensuring compliance, and building a successful book of business.

What are the most common challenges faced by property and casualty insurance agents, and how can they be managed?

Property and Casualty Insurance Agents often encounter challenges such as balancing a large portfolio of clients, keeping up with frequent changes in insurance regulations, and meeting sales targets in a competitive market. Managing these challenges requires excellent organizational skills, ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends, and consistent communication with both clients and underwriters. Many agents find success by leveraging customer relationship management (CRM) tools and participating in regular training sessions provided by their agencies or professional associations.

Job description

The Agent's Office® is hiring four commission‑only Property & Casualty insurance producers in Frisco, Texas. This is a hunter role for licensed Texas P&C producers who want to build a serious income through new business production and a healthy active book.

Compensation structure

Base commission of 40% to 50% by tier on all new business — same rate whether the prospect came from your own pipeline, a cross‑sell to an existing client, a referral, or the shared lead program. On top of base commission, producers earn a Quarterly Production Retention Bonus of $750 to $16,000 per quarter (up to $64,000 per year) tied to active trailing‑twelve‑month new business commission. Five additional behavior‑specific bonuses — fast‑start, cross‑sell, referral, quality, and quarterly — stack on top.

Renewals, restructured

The Quarterly Production Retention Bonus replaces a traditional renewal trail. It pays meaningfully faster and rewards the active book you keep alive. The agency retains 100% of renewal commission and owns the book of business.

Infrastructure

75+ carrier appointments across personal, commercial, life, cyber, flood, and specialty lines. AgencyZoom CRM with pre‑built automation. Hawksoft management system. Lightspeed integrated VOIP. 5.0 Google rating across verified client reviews. 50/50 lead split program with up to $150/month agency contribution. Direct mentorship from founders George Azide and Mayra Azide, both still actively writing policies.

Earnings ramp

Year 1: $35,000 to $55,000 (ramp year with fast‑start bonus and quarterly bonus beginning to build).
Year 2: $70,000 to $105,000 (active book established, quarterly bonus contributing $12K to $20K).
Year 3+: $115,000 to $175,000+ (senior to elite tiers, quarterly bonus alone contributing $30K to $64K annually).

Requirements
  • Active Texas Department of Insurance Property & Casualty producer license required at time of hire.
  • Texas resident producer status.
  • Commission‑only experience preferred.
  • Self‑directed hunter mindset with proven ability to prospect, quote, and bind without daily management.
  • Comfort with documented activity floors and quality‑of‑business standards.
  • Long‑game orientation — building a multi‑year seat, not chasing a single quarter.
  • Hunter mindset, comfortable with documented activity floors (60 outbound contacts per week, 25 quotes per month) and 80%+ book persistency.
