Job Summary:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performingpreventative and corrective maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, includingcranes, forklifts, tractor trailers, and other heavy equipment. This roletroubleshoots and repairs diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical andonboard computer systems, brakes, booms, outriggers, pumps, and othermechanical components. The Mechanic works closely with equipmentoperators and fellow mechanics to identify issues, complete repairs,and help ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready foroperation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for performing PM and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, booms, electrical systems (including troubleshooting onboard computer systems), hydraulic systems (booms, outriggers, pumps), brakes and other basic components
  • Must have the ability to work on hydraulic and conventional cranes, forklifts, tractor trailers and miscellaneous equipment
  • Must work well and communicate effectively with operators and other mechanics
  • Position will manage branch resources throughout the maintenance lifecycle

Work Environment:

  • Construction sites, industrial facilities, and maintenance shops.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
  • Requires standing, climbing, bending, and lifting heavy materials.
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or travel to different job sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in diesel maintenance with proven troubleshooting skills
  • Must work safely in a fast-paced environment - many times under pressure
  • Experienced with Cummins and CAT diesel engines and systems
  • Experience in gasoline and propane engines
  • Proven ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Must have current CDL
  • Creative thinking skills to make continuous improvements
  • Willing to work day and or night shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Must pass drug test, fit for duty test and background check
  • Have basic computer skills, Excel skills, and the ability to work with digital record keeping
