Job description

Position Summary
The Field Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the location employees with daily operations. This role will be tasked with ensuring that the responsibilities of all field employees throughout the assigned locations are being properly executed. Important functions include, but are not limited to, safety compliance, customer service, logistics coordination, inventory, and employee scheduling.
Core Duties / Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of the propane distribution facility.
  • In conjunction with Dispatcher, oversee delivery schedules and manage routing to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, placing orders as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment and vehicles are properly maintained and operational using Fleetio as required.
  • Maintain and manage inventory.
  • Cross train in the service and delivery area to ensure timely response to general customer needs in propane and/or water where offered.
  • Flexibility to work up to 60% in a functional delivery or service role

Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to propane handling and distribution.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for staff.
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents or violations.
  • Demonstrate responsibility regarding the care, condition, safe handling and securing of all company and customer equipment and property at all times.
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, security, image and confidentiality of information and records as required by the position.

Personnel Management:
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate facility staff, including drivers, technicians, and administrative personnel.
  • Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Address and resolve employee issues and conflicts or questions as they arise.
  • Promote a positive work environment and team morale.
  • Take responsibility for team regarding all aspects of everyone's daily tasks and actions.

Customer Service:
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and service requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient service and communication.

Financial Management:
  • Along with oversite from the Area Manager, assist in the development and management of the facility's budget.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and analyze operational reports, making recommendations for improvements.

Logistics Coordination:
  • Manage logistics for the distribution of propane, including coordinating with suppliers and vendors in coordination with Dispatcher and corporate Supply Team.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of deliveries and inventory.

Position Qualifications
Experience/Education
Required Education: High School Diploma / GED, bachelor's degree in business management preferred
Required Work Experience:
  • 3+ years of proven work experience in propane distribution or related field
  • Minimum 2 years in supervisory role

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Microsoft Applications: Basic to intermediate functionality (in particular, Word, Excel and Outlook)
Additional Technology: Good phone skills and computer literacy
Travel: Local only; must hold CDL Class B
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required
