KP is looking for an experienced Machine Operator - Mail Processing/Inserting at our Renton location. The Mail Inserter Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, training and maintenance of all mail processing inserter and inkjet machines at our Renton, WA facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs standard and complex job set-up, operation, training & maintenance, optimizing equipment for maximum efficiency, including compliance with equipment specifications, safety and company procedures.
  • Reviews job instructions and coordinates job requirements internally and client specifications to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Perform proofing and project approvals, including effective and clear communication with program managers, sales representatives and customers.
  • Mentor and train staff on all mail inserters, inkjets, and related production equipment.
  • Help develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for job related functions, processes, and recommend method efficiencies and process improvements
  • Operates Mail processing equipment according to safety policies, procedures and safety rules, including the use of appropriate safety equipment. Always maintains safe working environment.
  • Participates in safety training program.
  • Reviews safety data sheets (SDS) for products used in work assignments; stores, labels, handles and prepares chemicals for disposal according to state and federal hazardous waste handling regulations.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education, Experience and Training (Knowledge):
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High level of experience with mail processing equipment including how to start, setup, operate, train, adjust and understand mailing requirements, have knowledge of mailing regulations and safety protocols- including safe use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Computer skills sufficient to interface with various mail equipment and files.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Good verbal, written and listening skills; ability to read, understand and follow SOP's, supervisor instructions and safety, security and quality procedures; clearly communicate detailed instructions.
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Uses self-management skills to plan organize and prioritize work activities to use time efficiently.
  • Reviews all work carefully for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identifies the problem and notifies manager in a timely manner with possible solution
  • Helps and supports all employees in their work.
  • Works effectively with others.
  • Responds positively to instructions and procedures.
  • Previous or current experience with a large format commercial printing company preferred.
