About Our Organization: 

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 to engage Republican policymakers and the public about responsible, conservative solutions to address our nation’s energy, economic and environmental security while increasing America’s competitive edge. This work includes building out robust political and advocacy operations to support Republican clean energy champions in the U.S. House and Senate. In addition to working with members of Congress and legislative staffs to discuss policy ideas, the CRES team members also collaborate with industry representatives and subject matter experts in their mission to bring Americans together to solve our most pressing issues. CRES policy goals include: 

  • Reducing global emissions and growing the U.S. economy 
  • Enacting policy that builds off historically successful approaches to affordable clean energy 
  • Affordably reducing domestic emissions in a manner that can be leveraged globally 


Scope of Work: 

The Events Coordinator plays a critical role in the Communications & Events team by supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of a dynamic and impactful portfolio of events for CRES and CRES Forum. These events include National Clean Energy Week, COP (Conference of the Parties), salon dinners, CRES Forum events, the annual fly-in and more. Reporting to the Director of Events, this position ensures that all logistical and operational aspects are handled efficiently and professionally, contributing to the success of each event. The Events Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Events, alongside other CRES departments, to provide critical support and ensure seamless execution of all event logistics. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented professional passionate about events. The role requires engaging with high-profile stakeholders such as policymakers, corporate partners and foundations. The ideal candidate can articulate what is needed to create successful events while maintaining collaborative demeanor. 

Responsibilities: 

Event Logistics and Coordination: 

  • Partner with the Director of Events on the planning and execution of large-scale conferences and special events, while serving as the lead planner for smaller events and programs. This includes venue selection, vendor coordination, catering arrangements, etc. 
  • Manage event timelines, ensuring deadlines for deliverables are met. 
  • Support the Director of Events with tracking event budgets and expenses. 

Event Promotion and Communication: 

  • Coordinate with the Communications team to develop promotional materials and manage event invitations and RSVPs. 
  • Build and maintain event websites, registration paths, communications, and attendee records in Cvent. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication with stakeholders and attendees. 

On-Site Event Support: 

  • Provide hands-on assistance during events, including registration, guest assistance and troubleshooting as needed. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and venue staff for assigned events, ensuring smooth communication and execution. 

Data Management and Reporting: 

  • Maintain detailed records of event metrics, attendee feedback and post-event reports to inform future planning. 
  • Utilize tools such as Salesforce and Cvent for tracking event data. 

Cross-Department Collaboration: 

  • Partner with the External Relations, Communications, Policy and Government Relations teams to align event objectives with organizational priorities. 
  • Support the development of briefing materials and agendas for event participants. 

General Administrative Support: 

  • Prepare and manage expense reports while providing meeting support by taking detailed notes to ensure accurate documentation and follow-up. 
  • Assist with other administrative tasks related to event planning and execution. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: 

Required: 

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in event planning or a related field. 
  • Familiarity with managing catering logistics, menu planning and working with food and beverage vendor, e.g., serving experience. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to support effective communication and task management. 
  • Skilled in platforms like Cvent and Salesforce for planning, organizing and tracking event logistics and data. 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • Experience in a non-profit, advocacy, trade association, government, Congressional, public policy organization or working on the Hill. 
  • Proven experience working with or within Republican or conservative political environments, demonstrating a strong ability to build relationships and effectively advance policy objectives.  
  • Basic understanding of energy, climate, or environmental policy topics.
