Job description


SUMMARY
Ajax Building Company is seeking a driven Assistant Superintendent to support field execution on complex construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role offers a clear path to Superintendent, with hands-on exposure to all aspects of field leadership while working alongside experienced Superintendents and trade partners.
The Assistant Superintendent will help drive day-to-day site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and uphold safety, quality, and schedule-gaining the experience needed to step into a lead Superintendent role on increasingly complex projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with supervision of craft personnel to ensure project is constructed by design, within budget and on schedule.
Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
Monitor personnel for compliance with safety and working procedures.
Advise Superintendent of all potential problems and assist in problem solving.
Perform additional assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Formal journeyman carpentry training and/or supervisory training courses preferred.
5+ years construction experience, OR 2+ years experience with 4-year degree
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Excellent communication and organizational skills
In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
Ability to motivate employees and handle different situations.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to perform the following tasks:
Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
See well (either naturally or with correction).
Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
