Senior Project Manager – Underground Wet Utilities

Location: Mesa, AZ
Pay: Competitive Salary + Full Benefits Package

Status: Full-Time

Kinkaid Civil Construction (KCC) is a growing, family-run, and 100% employee-owned civil construction company based in Mesa, Arizona. We take pride in our work as both a General Contractor and Subcontractor, specializing in self-performed underground utility installation and earthwork. At KCC, we value a team-first culture and a commitment to doing the job right.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Underground Wet Utilities to provide leadership, direction, and oversight on large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects. This individual will play a critical role in managing complex underground utility operations while supporting project teams, mentoring staff, and maintaining strong communication with executive leadership, clients, subcontractors, and field operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage heavy civil and underground utility projects from pre-construction through closeout
  • Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, forecasting, and overall project execution
  • Lead project teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants
  • Coordinate project startup activities and ensure successful project execution from award through final closeout
  • Track, manage, and communicate project financials and construction budgets to executive leadership
  • Review and approve subcontractor/vendor invoices, change orders, and project documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, contract requirements, specifications, and company procedures
  • Facilitate value engineering discussions and proactively resolve project-related issues
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, municipalities, inspectors, and project stakeholders
  • Conduct project closeout reviews and gather customer feedback for continuous improvement
  • Mentor and develop project management staff and field leadership teams
  • Travel to project sites throughout Arizona and surrounding areas as required


  • Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
  • Proven experience managing underground wet utility projects, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems
  • Strong knowledge of large-diameter pipeline installation, trenching, excavation, and utility infrastructure
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects from pre-construction through closeout
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and contract administration
  • Ability to effectively lead teams and coordinate across multiple departments and stakeholders
  • Strong communication, leadership, and executive reporting skills
  • Experience mentoring and developing project management and field operations staff
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, PlanSwift, Smartsheet, and/or MS Project
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • PMP Certification and/or advanced education preferred
