Description
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an ambitious and talented professional to join our team as a Transportation Project Manager. This is an opportunity to join Westwood's highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.
Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years of roadway design, DOT, and project management experience supporting design projects. This position is responsible for complex engineering design tasks as well as marketing, business development, client contact and growth of a team.
Requirements
  • Manage the design and delivery of projects in a profitable manner
  • Oversee the technical aspects of various projects
  • Supervise the work of engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
  • Develop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources
  • Review, interpret and act upon business metrics including utilization, backlog, work in process and account receivables
  • Prepare, maintain and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects
  • Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Complete monthly project accounting and invoicing
  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, support services and subconsultants
  • Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
  • Participate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittals and RFIs
  • Resolve design conflicts and field construction issues
  • Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies
  • Write proposals and participate and/or lead interviews
  • Grow, mentor and train staff
  • Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners
  • Lead business development activities
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions
  • Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
  • Lead by example - display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

Required Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of geometric design and other related design elements
  • Knowledge and experience with the full roadway project lifecycle from preliminary studies through final design
  • General knowledge of construction with experience providing construction phase services
  • Track record of successfully winning and delivering projects
  • Experience in accounts receivable, invoicing, and overall duties involved in managing a design team
  • Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work and qualification packages
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing pursuit strategies
  • Ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staff.
  • Ability to coach and motivate others

Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in WI (or capable of obtaining within 6 months)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in design
  • This position may require travel to project sites and other Westwood offices throughout the United States
