Job Summary:

We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Construction Project Estimator who knows AGTEK Takeoff Software, to join our preconstruction team. In this role, you will analyze plans, specifications, and proposals to forecast accurate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracts. Your goal is to prepare highly competitive and accurate bid proposals that balance winning new business with safeguarding our target profit margins.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze Project Documents: Review site plans, engineering drawings, and structural specifications to fully comprehend the project scope.
  • Perform Quantity Takeoffs through AGTEK Software: Measure and quantify all building materials, equipment, and labor hours needed for the project.
  • Source Quotes & Negotiate: Solicit and evaluate competitive bids from subcontractors and material vendors to find the best value.
  • Formulate Comprehensive Budgets: Calculate indirect expenses including fuel, permits, insurance, site offices, and local regulatory fees.
  • Mitigate Project Risks: Factor in local market conditions, inflation, material shortages, and potential weather delays to establish cost contingencies.
  • Present Bid Proposals: Draft detailed cost reports, proposals, and presentations for clients, company executives, and project managers.
  • Offer Value Engineering: Propose alternative construction methods or materials to reduce overall costs without sacrificing structural design quality.
  • Track Post-Bid Analytics: Compare actual completed construction costs against your initial bid estimates to continuously refine estimating templates and database metrics.



Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced experience with digital takeoff and construction estimating software (such as AGTEK, Procore, On-Center, Bluebeam, or HeavyBid).
  • Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and navigate complex architectural plans and BIM models.
  • Mathematical Precision: Strong analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate formulas, data analyses, and cost validations.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Clear verbal and written skills to build relationships, request quotes, and resolve scope conflicts with subcontractors and stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to handle strict, fast-paced bidding deadlines across multiple simultaneous projects.



Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Degree (Preferred): Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent field-experience equivalence).
  • Experience: Typically 3 to 5+ years of dedicated estimating or project management experience within a general contracting firm.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Professional credentials like Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Associate Estimating Professional (AEP) via the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) add significant value.
