The Opportunity
AGI is seeking a results-driven Project Engineer to join our team at the Clay Center facility. This role is responsible for leading and executing engineering and capital projects that support manufacturing operations, improve efficiency, and enable business growth. The Project Engineer will manage projects from concept through completion, working cross-functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, and external vendors to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage capital and process improvement projects from initiation through execution and closeout
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets in alignment with business goals
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain
  • Oversee equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Track project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Identify and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs
  • Support new product introductions and facility layout changes
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and technical specifications
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and engineering partners
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to ensure performance targets are achieved

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
  • 3-7+ years of experience in project engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading capital projects
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, welding, or ag equipment preferred)
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or formal project management training
  • Experience with automation or equipment integration projects
  • CAD or engineering design experience
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing environments
