Job description

We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to be responsible for managing and monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasting, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle. This role ensures accurate cost tracking, supports financial reporting, identifies cost risks, and helps maintain projects within approved budgets.


Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and budgets

Monitor project expenditures, commitments, accruals, and cash flow

Analyze cost variances and provide corrective action recommendations

Support monthly cost forecasting and estimate-at-completion (EAC) updates

Track purchase orders, invoices, and contractor costs

Prepare management reports, dashboards, and financial summaries

Assist with change management and trend analysis

Coordinate with project managers, procurement, accounting, and construction teams

Maintain cost control systems and project financial records

Perform earned value management (EVM) and performance analysis

Support annual budgeting and project funding requests

Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and project controls standards


Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field

3+ years of experience in project cost control or project controls

Experience supporting EPC, oil & gas, energy, construction, or industrial projects preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost reporting systems

Experience with SAP, Oracle, Primavera P6, or other project controls software

Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) principles and forecasting methodologies

Experience with Power BI or other data visualization/reporting tools preferred

AACE certifications such as CCP or CEP preferred

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities

Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
