Description:
Lumos & Associates is seeking an experienced and driven Water/Wastewater Project Manager to help lead and expand our team of design professionals. This role requires a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Nevada; licensure in California is highly desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader to play a key role in growing and shaping our water/wastewater practice across northern Nevada and California. The position is based in our Reno, Nevada office.
The Project Manager will lead and support a variety of projects for municipal and utility clients throughout our service area. Typical projects include water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, booster pump stations, lift stations, storage facilities, master planning efforts, hydraulic modeling, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
As a leader within the organization, this individual will also contribute to business development efforts by cultivating client relationships and identifying opportunities aligned with Lumos & Associates' strategic goals.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen, including:
  • Strong technical background in water and wastewater design and construction management, with a demonstrated ability to serve in a responsible charge capacity for water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information in public forums and communicate effectively with clients, team members, and colleagues.
  • A high level of creativity, organizational skill, and attention to detail, along with a demonstrated ability to manage and oversee several tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Strong business acumen necessary to maintain project budgets and develop new and repeat business with existing and new clients.
  • Vision to help grow and direct the water/wastewater technical focus group in close coordination with the Lumos Group Manager, consistent with our strategic plan and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate, oversee, and direct the project design team during the execution of projects in responsible charge.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and delegation of responsibility to staff.
  • Provide technical review and QA/QC of projects.
  • Serve as the primary contact with clients.
  • Provide leadership in the development of new business and the promotion of repeat and referral business.
  • Prepare and review project proposals, qualification statements, and promotional materials.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with an emphasis in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 8+ years of related water/wastewater engineering design and related management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Nevada required; California P.E. license preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience working in and managing a team of technical staff in multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public and client presentations.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or fewer demerit points.
