Job description


The customer project coordinator serves as the primary contact between the company and customers for work associated with the gas and electric distribution system and is the primary contact with local government agencies for coordinating the installation, removal and relocation of gas and electric facilities. The customer project coordinator handles communications with contractors, homebuilders, homeowners and government officials requesting work by MidAmerican Energy Company. The customer project coordinator prepares and administers standard service agreements and administers company policies and procedures related to gas and electric services and construction standards. The customer project coordinator provides technical advice to customers about service and line extension, policies, coordinates internal and external resources to meet customer demands, communicates status of customer requested services provided by MidAmerican Energy Company, and performs other assigned duties appropriate for this position. The customer project coordinator has responsibility for date management on all phases of customer work from beginning to end. They act as a customer advocate to ensure the customer needs are being met as their work order makes its way through the process.
Responsibilities
Primary contact in providing services to external customers. Identifies customer need and communicates information to internal resources. Explains the process to receive services from the company, details customer and company responsibilities, and provides project status updates to the customer. Acts as the customer's primary contact. (25%)
Receives and coordinates requests for service, line extensions, main extensions, relocation, streetlight installation and other customer related construction work. (20%)
Prepares, manages and administers contracts and service agreements associated with distribution service and construction work. (20%)
Keeps current on project need dates, priorities and assists in the scheduling process to meet service dates and proactively contacts customers to ensure all targeted dates for construction milestones are adhered to. Tracks projects through the life cycle and initiates progress reports prior to projects being off schedule. (20%)
Provides support for field operations regarding design, work instructions, location of proposed facilities, field revisions and routine technical issues. (0-10%)
Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning. (0-5%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Qualifications
Associate's degree in a technical field or related field (Typically, three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate's degree.)
Three years of related work experience in construction management or construction coordination.
In lieu of an associate's degree and work experience, a bachelor's degree in a technical field would be considered.
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
