JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator

Position Summary

The Project Coordinator is a key, multidisciplinary position tasked with ensuring the successful and compliant delivery of large-scale environmental remediation projects. This role merges technical field coordination and project delivery oversight with advanced cost management, scheduling, procurement, and reporting responsibilities. The Project Coordinator will serve as the central liaison among onsite field personnel, remote management, JV partners, and corporate support teams, promoting seamless communication, collaborative problem-solving, and a positive safety culture

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Collaborate daily with onsite teams, joint venture partners, subcontractors, and remote project management to execute remediation, investigation, and restoration activities safely and efficiently.
  • Support development and execution of project work plans, maintain schedules, and ensure adherence to technical and regulatory requirements in compliance with guidance from the Senior Project Manager.
  • Prepare and update project burn schedules and reconcile daily cost, production, and status reports for both onsite and corporate project management teams.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining effective Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedules, project reporting systems, and documentation.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and subcontractor services at the worksite; initiate and manage subcontract agreements and purchase orders, utilizing a compliant 3-bid process for purchases.
  • Ensure all purchase orders and subcontract agreements are fully documented and accurately set up in the accounting system, preparing Change Orders as required.
  • Interface and collaborate with corporate project accountants to ensure accurate and timely cost coding, billing, collections, and revenue recognition.
  • Compare control estimates to budgets, identify variances, and report findings to management for resolution.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, support and monitor site-specific health, safety, and environmental protocols, and participate in risk mitigation activities.
  • Assist with preparation and review of technical documents including RFIs, change orders, work plans, stakeholder reports, field logs, sample records, and reporting documentation.
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities such as environmental sampling, field data collection, and technical documentation.
  • Aid in managing subcontractor activities ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across all workstreams.
  • Serve as an onsite liaison, facilitating communication between field staff, JV partners, and remote leadership, including regular updates and participation in virtual meetings.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities as needed, including meetings with regulatory agency representatives, local community contacts, and contractors.
  • Foster a team-focused, collaborative environment by supporting colleagues, sharing expertise, and contributing to continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Perform general clerical tasks as necessary, including typing, filing, faxing, duplicating, answering telephones, and entering timesheet and project data.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 4–7 years’ experience in environmental remediation, project coordination, or site/project accounting; experience with projects involving soil radiation strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (current refresher preferred).
  • Demonstrable proficiency using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas); knowledge of Deltek Costpoint a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Federal Background Check and OSHA HAZWOPER physical exam/drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progress toward Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent professional credential.
  • Four (4) years or more experience on construction or environmental remediation job sites.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and maintaining complex project documentation and budgets.

  • Capable of standing or working in a stationary position for significant periods and operating field equipment, as needed.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for fieldwork and construction environments.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform other physical tasks required by field investigations
