Job description

Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Construction
This position will assist Project Managers in daily tasks project estimating, design, task planning, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned projects. We expect the successful candidate to focus on technical training and development to execute projects successfully. Opportunities include participation in customer relationships, selling company services, interacting with company leaders and ultimately, additional project management & leadership responsibilities. This position will work on the Mechanical Construction Team. Grunau develops internal career paths for their Assistant Project Managers to become Project Managers and Sr. Project Managers.
Responsibilities
Sales
Build relationships of mutual trust and respect and know customers deeply.
Maintain relationships developed from working on projects.
Assist project manager and estimating in sales pursuits to include: walking potential opportunities, assisting in take off and estimates, and developing budgets.
Operations
Project execution management
Attend job meetings
Get the field what they need when they need it
Task planning and scheduling
Maintain equipment report
Review/approve/process submittals
Administrative support (schedule meetings, record minutes, order food)
Project document management
Update CD's for CB's
Distribute CB's to field, subs, BIM, etc.
Save documents as needed to Field Info folder
Submit/track RFI's
Coordinate our work with overall job schedule and other trades
Estimating
Trade takeoffs (beginner)
Solicit vendor pricing
Control sheet
Proposal letter
Labor/progress tracking
Communicate with Superintendents regarding labor needs
Equipment vendor selection
Safety
Two safety audits per month
Reinforce and talk to field leaders about stop work authority and reporting near misses
Financial
Prepare billings based on SOV amounts provided by Project Manager
Prepare input info for projections
Prepare billing backup (GMP projects)
Enter budgets at start of project
Update budgets for CO's
Assist PM with job forecasts. Update quantities installed as directed by PM.
People
Consult with Branch Manager on personnel issues
Create Individual Development Plan with supervisor/mento
Communicate effectively and openly with all team members
Pay: Salary dependent on your level of experience/skills *plus annual incentive bonus tied to company performance*
