Job description

Bethany Athletic Club, a premier athletic club in Portlandโ€™s west side seeks an Youth Programs Assistant to join the Youth Programs Team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Youth Programs department by helping as needed with Kid Central, Kids Classes, and Camp/After School Programs. Some positions may assist with driving program vans as needed, in addition to regular youth program duties.ย 

Job Type: PartTime / Full-Timeย 

Pay: $17.00 โ€“ $17.50 per hourย 

Schedule Options:ย 

  • Monday-Sundayย 
  • 4hour or 8hour shiftsย 
  • Start times available at 8:00am, 2:00pm, or 4:00pmย 

Positions Available:ย 

DrivingEligible Position:ย 

  • Must be at least 18 years oldย 
  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s licenseย 
  • Driving is occasional and as needed to support programmingย 

NonDriving Positions:ย 

  • No driving responsibilities requiredย 
  • Same Youth Programs Assistant dutiesย 

Responsibilities:ย 

  • Nurtures and cares for children between 6 weeks to 12 years old.ย 
  • Provides a clean, safe and fun childcare environmentย 
  • Ensures safe playing conditions and follows established security proceduresย 
  • Observes specific parental directions for feeding, nap times and other special needsย 
  • Informs parents about the policies and procedures of Summer Camp and maintains a positive rapport with all parentsย 
  • Develops and implements activities for the children on an ongoing basisย 
  • Treats children of minor injuries and completes incident reports as well as notifies parents, supervisors and club managers of any incidentsย 
  • Perform general administrative tasks as needed such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, making phone calls, etc.ย 
  • Maintains a clean work environment by performing janitorial duties as required or assigned including but not limited to body fluid cleanup, sanitizing areas and other light housekeepingย 
  • Other duties as assignedย 

Qualifications:ย 

  • Motivated with high level of energy, friendly demeanor, and strong work ethicย 
  • Experience with basketball and other sports.ย 
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skillsย 
  • Patience in working with children and customers on regular basisย 
  • A strong attention to detail, a high level of organization and a willing team playerย 
  • CPR Child/Infant & First Aid Certificationย 

Language Requirement

All team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes. Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures. Also required is the ability of employees to speak and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management.
