Position Description: Company Purpose/Mission: Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) creates brighter futures for children and families in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment. RMYA provides treatment programs for traumatized children who most often are victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse. RMYA uses trauma-informed techniques and relationship-based approaches to create a safe environment that provides consistency, structure, and caring for the children we serve. Job Summary: The Youth Activities and Volunteer Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for youth activities, enrichment, and wellness programming. This position ensures that all activities, volunteer engagement, and enrichment opportunities align with therapeutic goals and support the physical, emotional, social, and developmental well-being of the youth served by RMYA. In addition, the Youth Activities and Volunteer Manager is responsible for ensuring that all programming complies with applicable licensing standards, accreditation requirements, agency policies, safety protocols, and program expectations. The position exercises independent judgment in planning activities, allocating resources, addressing operational challenges, and evaluating program effectiveness while maintaining clear, timely, and collaborative communication with Program and Development Department leadership.This position is primarily based at RMYA's Meadowland Campus in Boerne.Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Provides the vision and operational leadership for all trauma-informed youth recreation, enrichment, and wellness programming across RMYA.• Develops and implements goals, priorities, and the annual Activities Calendar in conjunction with Chief Development Officer, Manager of Development and Volunteer Programs, and Program Directors.• Exercises independent judgment in planning activities, allocating resources, resolving operational issues, and ensuring program effectiveness. • Collaborates closely with the Development & Marketing Department to identify, coordinate, and support donor-funded opportunities, volunteer activities, in-kind donations and gifts, and community partnerships that enhance the experiences of our youth.• Provides a timely, monthly report of volunteer hours and in-kind gifts. • Coordinates volunteers participating in on-site youth activities.• Serves as the liaison between program staff and the Development & Marketing Department to support effective communication, coordination, and stewardship of community partners, volunteers, and donors.• Collaborates regularly with the Manager of Development & Volunteer Programs to ensure volunteers are trained and that volunteer opportunities are meaningful, appropriately supervised, mission-focused, and aligned with program needs, licensing requirements, and youth safety considerations.• Participates in regular one-on-one meetings with the Chief Development Officer to review weekly priorities, discuss opportunities and challenges, ensure alignment with agency goals, and support collaboration between activities programming, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and development initiatives. • Tracks and evaluates program outcomes and implements operational improvements through CQI initiatives.• Manages the departmental budget. • Manages the Youth Activities Council.Ensures compliance with DFPS, COA, licensing, safety, and RMYA standards for all youth activities and engagement. • Oversees risk management practices for recreation and campus activities to include staff who are participating in recreational activities.• Gathers and tracks youth milestone data (intakes, discharges, birthdays) to support individualized celebrations and special events. • Represents RMYA professionally at all times. • Models RMYA’s mission, vision, and Core + 4 leadership values in all interactions. • Maintains confidentiality and upholds ethical standards. Required Qualifications: • High school diploma with three years’ experience in a residential, shelter, or community-based youth program, or a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field with at least one year of experience in a residential, shelter, or community-based youth program.• Minimum of one year of experience with coordinating events and recreational activities.• Flexible schedule to include nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Valid Texas driver’s license. Must have and maintain acceptable driving record. • Maintains required certifications to support program safety operations as needed.Competencies: • Leadership and team management skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to plan, organize, and execute complex events.• Adaptability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools. Physical Requirements: This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and occasional physical intervention with youth. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, variable weather conditions, and interaction with youth experiencing crisis. Work Environment: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Willing to work in environmental conditions including hot, cold, dry, humid weather; outdoor and indoor; noisy, congested areas; moving objects. Fast-paced work using sensory demands i.e., hearing, vision, speech, spatial perception; dealing with multiple, complex, and repetitive tasks, and confrontational situations. Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements: Successful clearance of Department of Family and Protective Services licensing background checks, (to include fingerprinting and drug testing) and maintenance of status providing ability to be present at an operation.
