Job description

Municipal Civil Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH

Base Salary: $90,000 - $130,000


About the Role

A growing engineering group is seeking a Municipal Civil Engineer to support a variety of public infrastructure and community development projects. This role focuses on technical design, permitting, analysis, and coordination across municipal water, sewer, stormwater, roadway, and public works improvements. The ideal candidate thrives in a client facing environment, enjoys solving real community challenges, and brings a strong foundation in municipal engineering principles. This is an opportunity to contribute to long term city and township infrastructure while growing inside a collaborative and people first organization.


Responsibilities

  • Develop civil engineering plans and drawings for municipal improvements using CAD and GIS platforms
  • Complete quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates
  • Support design and analysis for sanitary sewer, waterline extensions, roadway improvements, stormwater systems, pedestrian facilities, and related municipal infrastructure
  • Conduct technical reviews, permit preparation, and coordination for ROW, utility, and environmental approvals
  • Prepare construction specifications and project documentation
  • Assist with construction administration, including RFIs, site visits, and coordination with contractors and municipal representatives
  • Support client communication and participate in meetings with city staff, public officials, and project partners
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, planning, environmental, and surveying services


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required. PE preferred
  • Four or more years of municipal engineering or public works design experience
  • Background in civil, sanitary, environmental, or transportation related project work
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D with ArcGIS familiarity preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a service oriented mindset
